There are many jobs out there to choose from. We either get a job based on our circumstances, or we get a job based on our likings. There are people who do not care about the pay of a job because it is something that they may want to do and or desire. There are also people who do care about the pay of a job because, for example, a financial obligation. When we go on interviews, we have a choice to settle for a pay that may be below our means, because the need of a job, or we can negotiate a pay based on what we may think or know what we are worth. Although we may be forced to make a choice outside of our means, we still have a choice, because everyone has a choice, and that is a part of life. I can tell you my experiences of jobs I have chosen. I have usually been the type of choosing jobs just because I need a paycheck. I have gone to college and still have been settling for whatever pay because of a need. Lately, I have worked at companies to promise me a promotion and or higher pay, however, the companies may not have followed the promise. I was recently at a company that crossed trained me and promise me a higher pay, however, nothing happened. I have an MBA and when I got the job, I settled for the pay that was set by the company. There are times when we go into a job thinking that we may can grow with a company, however, this is not true at all times. When a situation like this occurs, we sometimes find ourselves getting trap in the situation, feeling like we cannot do better. For example, I worked for a company from the time it opened and there were new people that were hired in making more than I did. The people that were hired after me did not have a degree. In my opinion, I do not feel like this is fair. The company practices on working our way up and make it seems as if a degree is worthless. I feel like when we obtain a degree, we have worked very hard and it should be accounted for. There is nothing wrong with not having a degree, however, I do feel that companies should differentiate among having a degree and not having a degree. When pertaining to if we are being paid fairly at some of these jobs, my answer would be no. My question to everyone is are we REALLY being paid fairly at our jobs? Does having a degree REALLY matters? I would love to hear you all insight on these questions.
